We are encouraged strongly from a very young guage to fit our every detail into boxes, and then told to think outside them as we age. Our spirits are locked up in homogenous cells and then we are screamed at for not having
the keys to the cage.
Those who think and feel more deeply are quickly labeled trouble makers or freaks, yet when the mouth is told it can’t, the behavior finds a way to replace how it speaks. So many stand at the ledge, looking for reasons not to leap, they don’t want to dredge up the past, but put the pain of the present to sleep. In reality it is not usually a desire to end the future, but a dream to change the now. All too often there is no vision of a better way, and no clue as to how. So, if like me, you replace the pain with poetry, then write from the ledge if you must, it is the only way I have ever found to change the despair into trust.
