Laying in the grass on our backs,
looking up at those heavenly stars,
for our love brings bends and cracks,
to this world’s earthly bars.
Counting not what either of us lacks,
neither the minutes nor hours,
knowing the time will pass in stacks,
also knowing the future is ours.
Content to lay side by side in silence,
peering at the first spring sun above,
a teamed testimony against the world’s violence,
endearing to the overall body of love.
Countless conversations without a word, not having to explain what we mean,
You are my life for real, for fantasy, and the magical realism between.

In the end, we are headed in whatever direction we have determined, and we ultimately head there alone. We take nothing with us but memories, relationships, and experiences, and no one else beside can atone. We face forward wanting to look back, and look back, perhaps wanting to go. And whatever on our map we are heading toward, we are desperately wanting to know.

As we cover ground and pound thr pavement in our larger urban centers, we pass by those who seem to be having conversations with themselves. Do we stop and listen to their words or engage as though they are the sages of our time? Or is this age among ages beyond even the concept of redemption? For no one is in exemption from being an image bearer of the author of all life. No one has fingerprints which are not unique. No one is worthless. There exists not a single soul without value, one which cannot be saved, and we are all, each a one, enslaved to getting in our own way from time to time.

If we subscribe to the idea that the world lacks order, that it lacks beauty, that it lacks wonder, design, awe, and purpose, then that may be all that we ever encounter.

Evidence to the contrary may be dismissed, disregarded, ignored, or remain unnoticed.

If, however, we subscribe to the idea that the world holds design, order, beauty, wonder, majesty, purpose, and intention, then we will find all of those things,
in abundance,
in everywhere that we roam,
in everyone that we meet,
within our occupations and our hobbies,
within our pastimes and volunteer opportunities,
within the things over which we maintain stewardship, and yes, within ourselves.
We will find it all of the remaining days of our lives, in spite of whatever seems to befall us or set us back from our dreams. We will find what we seek. The choice is ours.

Given enough time it would be logically possible to accomplish anything, if the resources and intentions were in line with the horizon. Yet we will acknowledge in our humility that certain aspects of human nature have not been eradicated from the human spirit, they have simply been recycled across time and perpetuated beyond desire.
