SIDEWAYS EIGHT PROJECTS

Obtaining status doesn’t last,
and all the collected wealth amassed won’t pass up the chance to dance elsewhere if the timing is right. So we must fight the good fight for things that cannot be taken away. And we try not to die along the way, other than to self in a servant’s way. We try to live to fight another day, having already gave to Caesar what we should pay, we stamp our own ticket when we kneel to pray.

pulling luggage, tugging at scarves, sneezing
and then pointing off in the distance,
with clarity as if it had jarred something loose,
which had been causing postponement of thought.
these sleepy dreamers,
these megalomaniacal underachievers,
these hospital gift shop romance participants,
these gambling fools drooling on stools pulling levers
that will spin wheels
of thought and desperation,
but might just release the trap door which can drop
a player into the time of their life
in the prime of their life.
Able to drop dime on all strife,
so as to let it know it has no control.

It only supposes control for its shape and fortitude. It assumes it and yet is never in possession. If there is nothing special about it then do not brag on its behalf. Merely show it the door and help it the rest of the way as is needed.

We hunger and thirst for righteousness, for justice, for mercy, and for grace. We saunter up to the mic to share a sense of community face to face. Content and at peace to have found our third space, we build a roaring fire right in the heart of this place.

Believe me when I tell you, if you have not experienced it for yourself, that polled waves are spoken of yet soon forgotten, but peace as the wind blows causing waves in the sage brush, peace as the surface of the earth tilts this way and that, peace inside that one can create waves, that peace is immeasurable.

As we cast a gathering stare at the future we aim for, we can already shape our conversation around the laughter of comparison by past tense.

Friday’s ‘Feel the Flow’ will feature artists Grace Hayes (@graceorsomething )and SaMoura Horsley (@morreysmile) showcasing their gifts of poetry and storytelling. 🎤💜🎤💜Open Mic slots will be available with signups at the door. $10.
