The world will tell you

that your story doesn’t matter.

The world will attempt to sell you

on the idea that you’re not enough.

The world wants your acquiescence

to what already befell you,

to the senseless chatter,

and giving in when

the going gets rough.

The world will judge you,

and smell you up and down

to sense your fear and doubt.

The world will yell at you

it’s just as well that you

give up now before you hurt

yourself or others who are innocent.

It will try to quiet your shout,

and try to imply that you’re about to

embark on the biggest mistake of

your life.

Being who you really are.

Being who you were intended to be.

Seeing things as they are.

For the first time, fully free.

There has been much written in recent years about the power of thoughts. Studies have been performed regarding the mind body connection in all of its full and rich layers. Whether we are pushing or pulling, our worst fears may be visited upon us solely for the purpose of showing us that we are not in control. We have never fully understood life’s lessons. Be careful what you push against now. Be careful what you give energy to in pushing away.

Thieves could not escape her grasp.

To flee would be a minor imposition.

She could bat an eyelash, and have them back,

eager for her next rendition.

These silhouettes from a distance

unintelligible fixtures in homes

constructed for generations that would

never live in them. They will never have

morning coffee in the kitchen nook.

Their children will never spy on visitors

from the tiny attic window.

This plan was left dormant due to

the divide that was present.

Due to the chasm that would not be crossed.
