COLLECTIVE BREATH – Episode: 26

Week of Sunday, January 3rd, 2021

Introduction:

Over the last year there were so many defining moments, testimonials, and intriguing interactions. Many regularly scheduled events found themselves altered or left behind. Many staples said goodbye, and a few innovators said hello.

A transcript of this segment and each subsequent session will be posted (for anyone interested) at http://www.sidewayseight.co which is my main outlet for personal poetry and photography: Sideways Eight Projects.

To wave a wand over a life, change it in a single brushstroke, magically enhance it somehow, what would that look like?

Hello fantastic people! My name is Jesse James Ziegler. I am the current Poet in Residence for the Bruka Theatre of the Sierra in Reno, Nevada. I am an active poet, special event MC, principle photographer, special event series host, and now weekly wellness writing workshop host in collaboration with Spoken Views Collective of which I am also a Board Member.

Over the last year I’ve had to say goodbye to many events I love, interactions in person with many people I adore, and my Dad on this earthly plane. I’ve gained more time with family, more time at home, more time writing than any singular year before, and more simplicity in my daily routines. As Tolstoy writes…”It was the best of times, it was the worst of times…” and in my life, I was given a healthy dollop of both.

This Weeks Writing Prompt:

This week’s Prompt : the Prompt comes to us via Brian Tracy, in the further suggested reading from last week, which is to answer the following question…

I want you to ask yourself this…

“If this was the best year of my life, what would have to happen?”

I want for this podcast style personal portion to contain information about famous writers and their quotes as well as, futuristically speaking, local guests to this program who help everyone involved gain a diversity of perspective and positively impact our individual process.

Quote(s) of the Week:(4)

“History doesn’t repeat itself, but it rhymes.”

— Michael Hyatt, Your Best Year Ever: A 5-Step Plan for Achieving Your Most Important Goals

“Dreams don’t work unless you do.”

— John C. Maxwell

“The future depends on what you do today.”

— Mahatma Gandhi

“The New Year means nothing if you’re still in love with your comfort zone.”

— Rachel Wolchin

I’m hoping this sharing and vulnerability I’m demonstrating will encourage others who love creative writing as well to open up, by sharing from their innermost, related to the topic provided. I’m hoping we all gain perspective, compassion, hope, and discipline through such organized sharing.

Closing Sentiments and an Invitation

Whereas the number seven represents completion in certain numerology circles, the number eight represents a new beginning. Here at Sideways Eight Projects, I try to focus on art with forever in mind, as well as having a beginners mind for the sake of beginning anew. I wish for each of you to begin anew this year, as best you can given the individual circumstances you are bound by.

That’s it for my personal portion. If this is where you get off this train of thought, because you checked in to listen, thank you for tuning in and absorbing. I appreciate your time and consideration. If you are here for the Weekly Wellness Writing Workshop group portion via Zoom Meeting, please transition to that application now using the link provided in the details/description section of the ‘Collective Breath’ Bruka Theatre Facebook Event Page. Keep writing. Keep your heart open and your mind aware. Keep coming back for more. Keep going. Keep giving. Keep doing. Keep daring to believe in a better way of living. Keep loving and creating. Keep each other safe and sound. Keep it real, and keep the faith. I love you. Goodbye for now.

COLLECTIVE BREATH – Episode 24

Week of Sunday, December 20th, 2020

Number of people attending Zoom Meet (group portion):

Introduction:

In the Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) fantasy role-playing game, alignment is a categorization of the ethical and moral perspective of player characters, non-player characters, and creatures.

Most versions of the game feature a system in which players make two choices for characters. One is the character’s views on “law” versus “chaos”, the other on “good” versus “evil”. The two axes allow for nine alignments in combination.[1][2] According to Ian Livingstone, alignment is “often criticized as being arbitrary and unreal, but… it works if played well and provides a useful structural framework on which not only characters but governments and worlds can be moulded.”[1]

This week’s Prompt : Write in response to the word ‘Alignment’

I want for this podcast style personal portion to contain information about famous writers and their quotes as well as, futuristically speaking, local guests to this program who help everyone involved gain a diversity of perspective and positively impact our individual process.

Quote(s) of the Week:(6)

“Growth is never by mere chance; it is the result of forces working together.”

– James Cash Penney

“Our world is moving so fast and we are apt to miss so much of what is happening “right now.” If we can put down our smart phones for one moment and be present to what is around us, I believe these incidental meetings and strangers who come into our lives can give us unexpected fortitude, perspective and even wisdom just when we need them the most – if we are just awake, aware and open to these new insights.”

— Kristin S. Kaufman, Is This Seat Taken?: Random Encounters That Change Your Life

“Visualization is the mind’s eye view of any creation. Every time you visualize and get your thoughts and feelings in alignment with it, that is the time of its manifestation. All that you visualize, can materialize.”

— Anand Patwa

“Only when we are in alignment with our soul purpose do we find true joy and inner peace.”

— Anthon St. Maarten

“We, when aligned with our consciousness can be the most powerful, unstoppable version of ourselves. Alignment with ourselves can help us heal from diseases and it can make our each day feel like a bliss.”

— Mridula Singh, Live More: Magic Begins with You

“Each time a cycle comes around where you are uncomfortable and feel this pressure, either mentally, spiritually, or energetically your higher-self is offering you a choice to continue down a path of creating more disease or adjust your path to be in alignment with your highest truth, to be in alignment with universal will, to be whole.”

— Victoria L. White

I’m hoping this sharing and vulnerability I’m demonstrating will encourage others who love creative writing as well to open up, by sharing from their innermost, related to the topic provided. I’m hoping we all gain perspective, compassion, hope, and discipline through such organized sharing.
