Meditating on WOLF being an acronym for Wild Outside Living Free, missing my old boy Coltrane more today than usual. They say all dogs go to heaven. I hope to see you again Buddy.

Standing on the side we’ve always known, hoping to cross over to the expanse of our innermost calling, wishing for better, planning for worse, able to help others cross in the opposite direction if need be, content never to look back.

I open my hands to the sky
and close my eyes.
I listen for the still small
reasons why.
The internal stirring reminds
me what I’ve tried to deny.
The proof held in the desire
to always give
one last try.

As we climb,
as we explore,
as we weep,
as we rejoice,
as we serve and protect,
as we study and acknowledge,
as we pray and play,
as we create and share,
as we listen and speak,
as we write and read,
as we comment,
let us never forget why.
