713 Appreciation Post

In my usual morning session of writing and reading, I got to meditating on the concept of #appreciation. I realize there is a tendency to demonstrate gratitude, express thankfulness, and articulate praise on certain predetermined markers across the calendar year.
.
We have a tendency to #gobigorgohome across special events and holidays with plans to coast during the remainder of the year. New Year’s Eve sees increased traffic in dinner reservations, The Super Bowl translates to more large spreads to entertain with food and drink, Valentine’s Day bears witness to increased jewelry sales and the prices at which those purchases are made, and St. Pats might contain more rounds purchased for others at local watering holes. Easter sees an incredibly boosted attendance at local churches, Mother’s Day experiences more incidents of cards and flowers than usual whereas the same can be said of slippers and ties for Father’s Day. The 4th of July prompts purchases of the more choice cuts of meat and libations, Halloween sees the spike in candy sales as well as the willingness of strangers to welcome children into their entryways. Thanksgiving includes brief spikes in appreciation before we shop until we drop and Christmas is a storm of consumerism. We add in graduations, birthdays, anniversaries, and celebratory special events for increased flavor to taste. Rinse. Repeat.
.
This all too often carries over to appreciation expressed in the realm of social media. Such and such for a hundred likes. So and so for five hundred followers. If, however we are truly to demonstrate appreciation, it must be done at unpredictable moments that don’t feel forced, fake, or formulaic.
.
It means a lot to me that I can connect with other soulful individuals all over the globe based on a mutual love for creativity and the arts. As such, I have decided to formally thank every individual who has helped my account grow in various ways. From the bottom of my heart thank you for every follow, like, comment, share, and emoji that has graced my desk.
.
As I know such things ebb and flow like the tide, I have chosen a number with personal significance for me. The number 713, represents the street address of the theatre in which my wife and I met (713 S. Virginia St.) as well as the date we decided to get married (July 13th)
.
Sometimes things which may seem to be the most arbitrary actually have the most meaning and significance. Thank you again for the ongoing support of my most effective release in and from life.
