I can tell from that bright-eyed and bushy tailed look in the room,
in spite of the impending sense
of doom and gloom,
you and I haven’t yet been consumed.
We are being stripped away, bit by bit,
of everything which had served as a distraction from the modern malaise.
The NBA, NHL, NASCAR, March Madness, flying, children going to schools, voting, weddings, world leaders, public gatherings, live shows, meetings, bar crawls, holiday celebrations Disneyland AND Disneyworld are all effected. We are all effected by the search for hard evidence continues amidst panic, hoarding, uncertainty, and frustration.
We are being stripped away of every inessential element of our lives, collectively. Those most vulnerable, as is par for our course, will be hit the hardest and suffer the most. Some will be stripped of every essential part of life as well. Perhaps it would be more appropriate to use the phrase ‘as worse’ rather than ‘well’ when so many are not.
We are being stripped away of overinflated wealth, reasons to continue political grievances, and a clear sense of which direction to turn.
We are being stripped away of dignity, care, safety, supplies, special events, routines, and agendas. We will perhaps even be stripped away of the cornucopia of bottled water from Flint, and the toilet paper from the ticker.
We cannot be stripped away from God.
We cannot be stripped away from Love.
Everything else will be stripped away until we realize there is only one essential element to life.
