COLLECTIVE BREATH – Week of Sunday, October 18th, 2020
Episode 15
Number of people attending Facebook (personal portion):
Number of people attending Zoom Meet (group portion):
Introduction:
According to the Oxford Languages Dictionary
a noun meaning:
the 19th-century doctrine or belief that the expansion of the US throughout the American continents was both justified and inevitable,
Is ascribed the title or label ‘manifest destiny’
Cultural assumptions such as this have shaped the fabric of our society, and in so doing helped formulate and guide the patchwork quilt covering our worldly village today.
This begs the question, what destiny are we collectively manifesting today? What history, stemming from our patterns of thought
will the unborn call their own in attempts to manage the pitfalls of everything we overlooked, failed to grasp, or ignored?
A transcript of this segment and each subsequent session will be posted (for anyone interested) at http://www.sidewayseight.co which is my main outlet for personal poetry and photography: Sideways Eight Projects.
Hello fantastic people! My name is Jesse James Ziegler. I am the current Poet in Residence for the Bruka Theatre of the Sierra in Reno, Nevada. This Weeks Writing Prompt:
This week’s Prompt : Write on the concept of ‘How our thoughts determine our lives’
I want for this podcast style personal portion to contain information about famous writers and their quotes as well as, futuristically speaking, local guests to this program who help everyone involved gain a diversity of perspective and positively impact our individual process.
Quote(s) of the Week:( 8 )
“To different minds, the same world is a hell and a heaven.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
“Whether you think you can or think you can’t, either way you are right.” – Henry Ford
“We can control our lives by controling our perceptions.” – Bruce H. Lipton
“Thus if you have been bombarding your cells with peptides from a negative attitude, you are literally programming your cells to receive more of those peptides in the future. Even worse, you are lessening the number of receptors of positive-attitude peptides, making yourself inclined towards negativity.” – by Jordan Lejuwaan
“Everything is defeated before love.” – Elder Thaddeus of Vitovnica
“You can’t use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have.” – Maya Angelou
“Whatever we plant in our subconscious mind and nourish with repetition and emotion will one day become a reality.” – Earl Nightingale
“The greatest force is derived from the power of thought. The finer the element, the more powerful it is. The silent power of thought influences people even at a distance, because mind is one as well as many. The universe is a cobweb; minds are spiders.” – Swami Vivekananda
I’m hoping this sharing and vulnerability I’m demonstrating will encourage others who love creative writing as well to open up, by sharing from their innermost, related to the topic provided. I’m hoping we all gain perspective, compassion, hope, and discipline through such organized sharing.

Which will also be posted across Collective Breath and Bruka Theatre’s social media platforms: Write a piece with the title ‘We don’t know when it will be fixed’
Closing Sentiments and an Invitation
“Keep your thoughts positive because your thoughts become your words. Keep your words positive because your words become your behavior. Keep your behavior positive because your behavior becomes your habits. Keep your habits positive because your habits become your values. Keep your values positive because your values become your destiny.”
That’s it for my personal portion. If this is where you get off this train of thought, because you checked in to listen, thank you for tuning in and absorbing. I appreciate your time and consideration.
