Excerpts from:

Love’s Ideology

By Jerrell Weatherbee

Unicycle

“he knew best how to mold the clay that housed my dreams”

“because life is a run on sentence

wild animals caged in the margins of norm”

Disaster

after all; how long does it take an ocean to turn a mountain into a beach;

I finally became strong enough to move that mountain but now the sand is what I drown in

Childish Dreams

We all create dreams big enough to block the sun from our own shine

but a hero that’s able to save the world

must first be able to save himself

Man’s Man ***

LOVE THIS POEM

Fictitious

innocent minds are forced to adapt

to whatever exposure of existence

that it inherits;

life molests all of its offspring

Love Struck

but men build homes

To hide their insecurities in security;

sheltering a mind full of mysteries

haunted by the judgment;

banging gavels on the front door

to unhinge me;

so blinded by bright auras

of the love she embodied

that when she left;

I was forced to rediscover

my fears of the dark;

or of myself

Acceptance

but if we are in her image

then we are all artificial

Momo

because low hanging fruit was always dangerous since everyone

could easily touch it;

NJ TWERK PART 2

people were more than willing to

toss pretty pennies as a token to well wishes

granting them access to lay a hand on her canvas

then having to come home

and raise her son to be the man

she thought his father was

Cloth

then I’ve earned these scars;

they prophesize stories of my weakness

and it wasn’t until I stopped trying to hide them

that I found my strength

SELF ESTEEM ***

LOVE THIS POEM

Definition

creating the texture of the space silence will haunt;

that’s why the traumatized become so infatuated with the noise of motion;

————————————————————————

Belchee Part 2

I always took abandonment lightly

nobody could ever leave me

the way I left myself

Life Lines ***

LOVE THIS POEM

Entitlement

and still I chose to reach for her

as if it was the handle on myself;

which kind of makes me wonder

who really casted the first stone

REAL ASSERTIVE THOROUGH

you ever meet someone

so authentic it makes you question

if anything in your past was real?

Fate Struggle Helpless

she got convicted

but I had to serve the time
